biography
Samvel Lajikian was born in Gyumri, Armenia in 1953.
He received his graduate degrees from Engineering University, and from Academy of Fine Arts in
Yerevan.
Mr. Lajikian was the president of the Union of Artists and the principal of the Merkurov Art School of
Gyumri.        
Since 1981 Samvel Lajikian has participated in numerous individual and group exhibitions in Asia,
Europe, and in the United States. He illustrated hundreds of books of such famous authors like
Pushkin, Tolstoy, Mark Twain, Charles Dickens, Daniel Defoe and many others.
He is the creator of numerous monumental frescos in Armenia.
Mr. Lajikian’s artworks have been acquired by the Ministry of Arts and Culture of Armenia, The State
Gallery of Armenia, Merkurov Museum, as well as many private collectors, among whom was Michael
Jackson, who loved “Michael Jackson Last supper” oil on canvas creation.
Mr. Lajikian’s artworks include portraits, landscapes, still life, and various compositions that are
masterly performed in all techniques of watercolor, acrylic and oil.
Samvel Lajikian lives in the United States since 1995.
His artworks have been exhibited in Glendale, Pasadena, Hollywood, as well as at Art ’97 exhibition
in Los Angeles and at Agora Gallery in Soho, New York.
